If you're lucky enough you are the owner of a lawn based on fine top soil, the toil and labor of beautifying your lawn can be dispensed with altogether. But many of us do not have this luxury, and as well, should a top soil base that is excellent exist, you will not be able to fully relax in order to maintain a lawn and garden that is perfect.

1. The optimum moment to have a lawn mowed should be the time when the lawn is dry and less hot. Have patience to ensure that the dew of the morning has evaporated, and prior to the warm build up that takes place prior to evening. 2. On the question of boundary division, a hedge has preferable qualities of separating boundaries than the qualities provided by fencing. It will provide better privacy, keep pets and children in or out. The shelter it provides will attract birds, and it will give a setting that will enhance flowers and plants.

3. Your garden should be brought right up to you; hyacinths should be planted close to doors, as well as paths. The scented, perfumed air they produce will swamp the spring air to brighten every aspect of your garden.

4. Add your garden to nongarden items, such as lampposts and mail boxes. Surround these items with flowers planted to take advantage of the earliest to the latest flowerings. You may wish to see snowdrops, white in color, crocuses of a purple or gold hue, tulips of whatever color, as well as hyacinths that are blue. The base of the posts would benefit from the placement of stanes and rocks to enhance their appearance.

5. Simple, but effective weed control is an achievement that your lawn can experience through the oft repeated mowing action when it is springtime. The effect that will be achieved is the suppression of the spread of dandelions through the elimination of the blossoms which are yellow and preventing seed formation. A highness of mowing is good in early summer, carrying on from late spring. This will allow grass blades to shade the ground, and the sprouting of crabgrass will also be prevented from happening.

The garden and the lawn that you own is expected to be somewhere that your pride and your creation's beauty shines through. Money in quantities need not be spent on non cheap enhancing compounds for your garden, or fancy lawn furniture and ornaments. A little commonsense and thought can go a long way to enhancing that space outside your home a much better place.
