If your fortune holds to the extent that you are the owner of a lawn based on fine top soil, much of the hard work of keeping a lawn beautiful need not cause you any worries. 1. The optimum moment to have a lawn mowed is the time when a lack of moisture and warmth exists. Linger until the damp dew of morning has left, and prior to the warm build up that takes place prior to evening. Or you may wish to perform this act early in the evening, or late in the afternoon there having been water sprayed on when it was morning, which is a fine time as well.

2. Preference should be given to a hedge than a fence. A more private provision is catered for, keeping little ones and family animals secure on either side. It is likely to attract birds due to the way it provides shelter for them, and provide a backdrop that will set off your flowers as well as your plants.

3. Bring the beauty of your garden to you; paths and outside doors can have hyacinths planted near them. The heady perfumed smell will swamp the spring air to brighten every aspect of your garden.

4. Brighten up mundane items, for example, your mail box and any lamp post. Wrap these things with flowering items that have been planted to take advantage of the first to the last to flower. You could have white snowdrops, purple and gold crocus, blue hyacinths, and various colored tulips. You may wish to put large stones around the posts to lift them from their mediocrity.

5. Uncomplicated control of weeds is possible for your lawn by mowing often during spring. Dandelions will thereby be caused to not spread through the elimination of the blossoms which are yellow as well as the formation of seeds being prevented. During late spring, and also early summer, mowing should be done quite high. This will allow grass blades to shade the ground, and the sprouting of crabgrass will also be prevented from happening.
