2. Preference should be given to a hedge compared to a fence. A more private provision is catered for, keeping little ones and family animals secure on either side. Birds will be attracted because of its sheltering properties, and it will give a setting that will enhance flowers and plants.

3. Your garden should be brought right up to you; plant hyacinths near walkways and doors. The scented, perfumed air they produce will overcome the air of early spring and make your garden really come alive.

4. Bring you garden to the things that don't belong in a garden, for example, your mail box and any lamp post. Smother such mundane things with planted flowers to benefit from flowers that go from the earliest to flower right up to the ones that flower last. You may wish to see snowdrops, white in color, purple and gold crocus, tulips of a variety of colors, and hyacinths colored blue. The base of the posts would benefit from the placement of stanes and rocks to enhance their appearance.

5. Uncomplicated control of weeds may take place on the environs of your lawn by mowing often during spring. The effect that will be achieved is the suppression of the spread of dandelions by the yellow blossoms being taken out as well as the formation of seeds being prevented. During late spring, and also early summer, mowing should be done quite high. The shading of the ground by grass blades will thereby be allowed, and will help prevent crabgrass from sprouting.

The garden and the lawn that you own should be a source of pride and beauty. You don't need to spend lots of money on herbicides and fertilizers that cost a lot, or fancy lawn furniture and ornaments. A little commonsense and thought will take you as far as you need to go towards creating a garden and a lawn a much better place.
