3. Don't just have your garden out ther, but take it closer to you; paths and outside doors can have hyacinths planted near them. The scented, perfumed air they produce will swamp the spring air and will enhance your garden in ways you didn't think possible.

4. Add your garden to nongarden items, such as lampposts and mail boxes. Surround these items with flowers planted to take advantage of the earliest to the latest flowerings. You could have white snowdrops, crocus, both purple and gold hued, tulips of whatever color, as well as hyacinths that are blue. The base of the posts would benefit from the placement of stanes and rocks which will give better interest to the items.

5. Weed controlling methods can be achieved on your lawn through the oft repeated mowing action when it is springtime. This will prevent dandelions spreading by eliminating the yellow blossoms and stopping seeds to form. During late spring, and also early summer, mowing should be done quite high. The shading of the ground by grass blades will thereby be allowed, and will help prevent crabgrass from sprouting.
